Like her partner Hank Pym, Wasp is a key figure in the Marvel world, a reference point for the Avengers team and an omnipresent character in the classic stories of the Silver Age, that consecrated the success of the House of Ideas. Digitally sculpted by Jason Smith, the Wasp Classic Statue was released by Bowen Design in 2012, with an edition size of 700 samples. Janet is depicted in an erect, static posture, with her wings in good evidence and sinuous forms that emphasize the sex-appeal and femininity of the character. The blue and red costume is the perfect companion of the well known Ant-Man statue, but it represents just one of the many color combinations with which the heroine was drawn in the tables of Comics in 70s, often designed by the master John Buscema. The body is slender and very elegant: the sculpt highlights, with folds made here and there in a masterly way, the generous curves of breast and the perfect roundness of the lower abdomen. The coloring is beautiful and very accurate, with dark shades on arms and legs and very nice face, where the sensual make-up of Janet stands out in bright red lips and in the eye shadow, accurately measured out to point out the wonderful blue eyes. Note also the pointed design on gloves and boots, the fine silvery color on bands at the wrists and the belt at waist, the wings made of a translucent plastic (with a texture in relief) and the beautiful coloring of hair, sculpted to perfection in the happy-go-lucky bob hairstyle, typical of the character. The base is circular, very simple and (like many other Bowen pieces dedicated to the Avengers) engraved with the logo of the team. Usually, the Wasp Classic does not have high prices: its market value substantially preserves the catalog cost and the statue is also rather easy to find. Nevertheless, due to the excellent aesthetics and the good quality of the sculpt, as well as the importance of the character in the Marvel Universe, it is an unmissable piece for any collector.
